Mrs. Sunderland had been a patient at the hospital only three and one half hours and had been ill only one day when death resulted from a heart attack. She was stricken ill when visiting her daughter, Mrs. Cleyon Heniser, in Sidney.
Born in Wapakoneta, September 9, 1887, she was the daughter of the late Frank X. and Mary Kraft Wahrer. As a child, she moved to the St. Marys community. On June 25, 1905, she was wed to Thomas T. Sunderland. He preceded her in death May 20, 1959.
She was a member of the Methodist church in this city, the W.S.C.S. and the Ladies Bible Class of the church. She was also a member of the Sidney Chapter of Women’s Benefit Association.
Mrs. Sunderland was a homemaker and had assisted her husband for many years at the Sunderland’s Grocery.
Surviving are two daughers, Mrs. Cleyon (Mary Margaret) Heniser, Sidney and Mrs. J. K. (Onnolee) Wolfe, Richmond, Ind., a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Harold Sunderland, Troy, five grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Chester (Agnes) Boyer, St. Marys, three brothers, J. R. Wahrer and Fred Wahrer, both of this city, and Robert Wahrer of Wapakoneta, and a host of friends.
One son Harold W. and three brothers, Oscar, Edward and Frank Wahrer are deceased.
Funeral rites will take place Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Yoder and Long Funeral Home. The Rev. Bruce Wendt will officiate with burial to follow in Elm Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Saturday.
