Lawrence Thomson

Lawrence "Bud" H.N. Thomson, 75, 8734 145th St., Burlington, died at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 1998, at Burlington Medical Center.

Born May 3, 1922, in Des Moines County, he was the son of Lawrence H.N. Sr. and Sophie C. Hansen Thomson. On May 18, 1945, he married Louise Helen Biggs Shellnut in Burlington.

Mr. Thomson was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He retired from farming after 53 years.

He was a member of Eagles, Moose Lodge No. 579 and VFW Post 10102, all of Burlington. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Carl Thomson of Maumelle, Ark., and Dale Thomson and Marvin Thomson, both of Burlington; one daughter, Juanita Walker of Morning Sun; one grandson, Carl Thomson, Jr. of Mediapolis (raised by his grandparents); nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Kathryn Neal of Mediapolis.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Visitation will be after noon today at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

The graveside funeral for Mr. Thomson will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in North Walker Cemetery of rural Burlington, with the Rev. Mike Rose officiating, and military rites conducted by VFW Post 10102.

A memorial has been established for North Walker Cemetery Association.
