Robert Walter Wood "Bob" was born June 28, 1947 in Vancouver, Washington, to Bill and Molly (Jarvis) Wood. He and his sister, Sue, had a magical childhood growing up gardening, fishing, and camping with their parents and grandparents. Those memories lasted a lifetime.

Bob graduated from Columbia River High in 1965. He went to Eastern Washington University in Cheney two different times where he got his degree in Industrial Arts. Two of his passions in school were pottery and competitive shooting on the rifle team. It was at Eastern that he met his future wife, Linda Goodwin. They married in 1971 and moved back to Vancouver where they bought a home on Sluman road in Hazel Dell. Their daughter Jessica was born in 1977.

To pay off some students loans Bob took a job working for Bower Moving and Storage and ended up working there until 1983 when the company started to close. Many of the drivers went to work for Yellow Freight in Portland where Bob followed suit a year or so later. He worked for Yellow until his retirement in 2002 at age 55.

Before he retired, Bob self-published a book in 2000 celebrating the life of his beloved friend and grandfather Claude Jarvis's 100th birthday who lived to be 105 years old.

After retirement, Bob devoted his time to restoring a commercial wood fishing boat he had purchased a few years before. He had moved to Olympia and his home there had plenty of room to garden and a large shop to work on his boat which he had christened Molly Sparks. Every detail of the boat was lovingly and expertly refurbished or replaced. His love of antiques showed in his old world craftsmanship as Molly became a museum quality work of art. He loved entertaining friends and family on his place, especially at his annual crab feeds.

Bob's dream was to take Molly Sparks to fish in Alaska so he sold his home and moved the boat to the Port Townsend boat yard to finish the restoration. About two years later the boat was in the water, but before he could take her to Alaska, his health became a concern and he eventually brought her back to Olympia. As his memory and dreams faded, his beloved Molly Sparks was sold.

Everyone will remember Bob's love of family, generosity, humor and amazing woodworking skills.

He was predeceased by his parents, grandparents Lester & Aeneid Wood and Claude & Reta Jarvis.

He is survived by his daughter, Jessica; two granddaughters, Sophia and Ava; his sister Susan Kowlowski; partner, Mary Snider; many cousins and lifelong friends who will miss him dearly.
