He was the son of Francis Boward and Christiana Bridge. He married Hettie Jane Crum.

JOHN HENRY BOWARD

John Henry Boward, 79, died at six-twenty p.m., Sunday after a long illness, though confined to his bed only a short time.
Mr. Boward was born Aug. 1, 1853 in Green Castle, Penna., and at 27 came to Virginia, where home was near Churchville.
For many years Mr. Boward had been a very prominent and widely known farmer, and for the past fifteen years was connected with the firm of B. W. Crum and Co., Staunton.
He was a member of St. Peters Lutheran church, Churchville, and took a very active part in the church until the past few years when his health began to fail.
Mr. Boward is survived by his wife, Hettie Hame Crum Boward; four daughters, Mrs. H. H. Brown, and Miss Florence Boward, Richmond; Miss Nellie Margaret, Huntington, W. Va.; and Miss Alice Boward, at home; seven sons, J. Clinton, J. Paul, and Lacy C., of Staunton; J. Francis, and J. LeRoy, of Huntington; Luther M. and M. William, at home; two sisters, Mrs. W. P. Weyent, of Waynesboro, Penna., and Mrs. Lydia McAldowney, of College Town, Penna.
Funeral services will be held from St. Peters Lutheran church, Churchville, at two-thirty o'clock this afternoon. Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery, the Rev. A. J. Shumate, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Homer Zigler.

NOTE: 2nd great-granduncle of my wife.
