Pittsburgh, Allan Jack Copenheaver, Sr., 85, died on July 9, 2017. Formerly of York, he recently resided in Pittsburgh.
He was the beloved husband of the late Kathleen Copenheaver and loving father to Allan Jr. (Judy) of Pittsburgh, Wayne of Thomasville and the late Katrina Billet. He is also survived by his adoring grandchildren, Heidi, Allan and Victoria Copenheaver, Jenifer Hartman (William) and Jessica Billet; great-grandchildren, Katrina, Novalee, Hunter, Derreck, Chelsee and Bill; sisters, Betty Miller of Myrtle Beach, SC and Nancy Zellers (Lee) of Mount Wolf; and his brother, Leroy "Sonny" (Shirley) of York. He is predeceased by four brothers; and three sisters.
For the last 23 years Allan wintered in Florida surrounded by his snowbird family where he enjoyed fishing, shooting pool, playing poker and many "happy hours" with his friends. Allan served in the Army and was stationed in France. He was a longtime member of the Harrisburg local of the Painter's Union and worked for many years at Three Mile Island.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday, July 13, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Koller Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 2000 W. Market St., York, and on Friday, July 14 from 10 to 11 a.m. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.
