Trudy Kay Cubbage Dodson, 74, of Charlottesville, Virginia, died on July 8, 2017 in Charlottesville at home.
Born on September 7, 1942 in Stanley, VA, she was the daughter of the late Elbert Franklin Cubbage and Florine Hilliard Cubbage.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, John W. Dodson Jr.; a brother, Jerry Cubbage; and a sister, Janice Chrisman.
Trudy retired from Sperry Marine. She was a member of the VFW ladies auxiliary and other organizations. She loved going to play the slots at Charlestown, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Dodson of Charlottesville, VA; two grandsons, Austin Kane and Dylan Engle; four sisters, Ruby Quintrell of Harrisonburg, VA, Nancy Alberti of Orange, VA, Doris Good of Shenandoah, VA, and Gayle Hammer of Stanley, VA; one brother, Wayne Cubbage of Luray, VA; numerous nieces, nephews; and close friends she considered family.
Special thank you to the Hospice of the Piedmont and Dr. Mark Prichard and his staff at the Martha Jefferson Cancer Center, and to all the people that have helped during her illness.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 14, 2017 in Mt Jackson Cemetery, Mt Jackson, VA.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Hill and Wood Funeral Home, 201 N. First Street, Charlottesville, VA.
