Mr. Robert “Fuzzy” Young, also known as “Brake-Brake,” was born April 23, 1929 in Winnsboro, SC to the late Dave and Mattie Perry Young. He entered into eternal rest on July 5, 2017 at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, SC.
Robert attended the Public Schools of Fairfield County. At a young age, he moved to Baltimore, MD where he worked as a laborer. He later moved back to Winnsboro and worked at Coleman Farms and worked there a number of years before retiring.
Robert leaves a loving and caring wife, Julia H. Young; two daughters, Sharon (Raymond) Howard of Winnsboro, SC and Janice Everette of Baltimore, MD; one son, Robert Young, Jr. of Baltimore, MD; four step-daughters, Gay Matthews of Baltimore, MD, Brenda (Victor) Livisay of Middletown, OH, Laura (Charles) Maloney of Great Falls, SC and Jenefer (Morris) Igvinovi of Newark, NJ; four step-sons, Harold and Larry Massey of Baltimore, MD, Hornesby Holmes, Jr. of Columbia, SC and Patrick (Evelyn) Holmes of Chesapeake, VA; ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Anne M. Battee of Winnsboro, SC and Agnes Greene of Philadelphia, PA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by three children, Joann Matthews, Carlin Matthews and Raymond Young; one step-son, Gordon Massey; two sisters, Mary E. Mobley and Virginia Steele; and three brothers, James Gaston, Dave “Lil Dave” Young and Willie J. Young.
