Former husband of Lila Lillian Glasgow; they married on Nov 8, 1888 in Lamar County and moved to Denison, Texas soon after. They had two children during their marriage: Odra May Carter, born 1890 and Edward Carter, born 1900. (Edward died from Diphtheria as a young child about 1903-1904.) The couple separated/divorced sometime in 1903.
He was a retired contractor and resident of Calera, Oklahoma, where his brother the Rev. Daniel W. Carter, also lived. He died at age 74 of complications of hypertension at a hospital in Dallas.
Thomas was survived by two half-brothers, William D. Carter of Muncie, Ind.; and Richard F. Carter, of Denver, Colo.; and one half-sister Mrs. Hettie Carter (James Tyler) Frazer, of Dallas, Texas. Hettie was the informant on his death certificate.
Death Notice-Calera
T. S. Carter, a former Calera man, died in a hospital in Dallas last Saturday morning.
Funeral services were conducted here at the Baptist Church Sunday afternoon by Rev. Rickerson, assisted by Rev. R. C. Miller.
Mr. Carter lived here about eighteen years and had many warn friends here.
