Son of James F. and Dorothy E. (Cross) Daniel. He served in the US Air Force for 24 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant. Following his military retirement, he owned and operated the J.I.L. Construction Company and then worked as a civilian contractor in Kuwait. He was active in local politics, as well as serving as a member on several charitable organizations in Troy, Illinois where he lived.
