She was born on July 27, 1920 in Lockney, Texas a daughter of Tom M. and Maudie Mae (Daniel) White.
Some of the words that describe my Mother, Edie Aston, are joyful, social, tender hearted, caring, champion of the underdog, patriotic, and loyal friend. She attributed her long life of 95 years to the faithfulness of God to keep His promise of long life to those who honor their Father and Mother (Exodus 20:12).
Mom was born into a preacher's family. Her Father, Thomas M. White was a Church of God minister who planted churches in West Texas and New Mexico. She and her sisters were a big part of his ministry, traveling with him and singing.
Mom was always ready with a tune. When she thought of a song that seemed to fit the occasion, she would burst out into all the lyrics – no matter where she was!
Mom eloped with a handsome young soldier, John T. Aston, during the middle of World War II. She was a faithful and loving wife who followed Dad to Germany, Japan, again to Germany, maneuvering all of the requirements of overseas travel with two little girls.
She has always been very proud of her three grandsons and eight great grand children. She was a devoted grandmother who spent many hours entertaining her grandchildren.
For the last three years, Mom has lived in an assisted living facility, in McKinney, Texas – Redbud Place. She learned to love it and call it home. She considered it to be one big family, sincerely loved every resident and employee, was concerned about others and tried to fix all their problems! She especially liked the social activities, church services and Bible studies. She was a student of the Bible and loved to discuss Biblical concepts and doctrines. She was hoping to be raptured, but instead, received a personal escort into the presence of Jesus, her Savior and Lord!
Edythe was preceded in death by her husband John T. Aston, daughter Shirley J. Miller, father Thomas M. White, mother Maudie Mae White, step mother Lucille White, brother Thomas D. White, and sisters Faye Cooper, Martha Bohannan, and Cassie White.
