Velma G. Gilmore
A funeral scripture service will be held Friday for Velma G. Gilmore, who passed away in Eureka Nov. 28, 1984 at age 73. She was a resident of Eureka. Born in Red Bluff, Mrs. Gilmore had resided in the Eureka area her entire lifetime. She attended local schools as a young girl. Mrs. Gilmore enjoyed playing the piano and organ and in the early days of the silent movies, she played the organ at the local theater. She was a member of the Eagles Lodge Auxiliary in Eureka for many years.
Mrs. Gilmore is survived by her three sons and her daughter-in-law, Jim and Dora Kaiiamos, William Gilmore and Frank Gilmore, all of Eureka, her daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Gary Wood of Shingletown, her sister, Leona Neale of Santa Rosa, her cousins, Ken and June Frederick of Sacramento, her grandchildren, Lt. Jim A Kaiiamos Jr., stationed with the U S Air Force, Tom Kaiiamos of Eureka, Gary Wood, Jr of Shingletown, and Keith Young of Half Moon Bay. She also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs Gilmore was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar R Gilmore, who passed away in 1959. Also preceding her in death was a son, Bruce Kaiiamos, who passed away in 1983.
Friends are invited to attend a funeral scripture service at Chapel of the Ferns-Cooper Mortuary in Eureka at 7 p m Friday with the Rev Father Thomas W Devereaux of St. Joseph s Catholic Church in Fortuna officiating.
Services will conclude at the chapel with private inurnment to follow at Ocean View Cemetery, Eureka. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Ferns-Cooper Mortuary in Eureka, where friends may call for visitations from 7 to 8:30 p m tonight, or from 9 a rn to 5 pm and from 6 pm. until service time Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Humboldt County, PO. Box 14, Eureka, Calif., 95501.
