Leroy A. "Bud" Pepper, 71, formerly of Lake Zurich , born June 14, 1939, in Elgin, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2011, in Whitewater, Wis.

Leroy was raised in Lake Zurich. After his honorable discharge from the Army and returning to his civilian life, he was an avid volunteer. He was a proud member of the Lake Zurich Volunteer Fire Department, Lake Zurich Baseball Association, Lake Zurich Jaycees, and the Free Masons, and served on several committees with the Village of Lake Zurich. He served proudly to the residents of Lake Zurich and Ela Township as an Ela Township trustee. Some of his accomplishments included the donation of Lake Zurich's first rescue squad/ambulance, Ela Township's Senior Citizen Center and Ela Township's first park "Al Knox Park." He also served and volunteered to many organizations in the Whitewater, Wis. area and was a proud member of the Whitewater Lions Club as an officer and former president.

He is survived by his wife, Doris M. (nee Moebius); his sons, David, Carl (Lynn) and Jimmy; one sister, Audrey Glauner; his grandchildren, Jaclyn (Bill) Beres, Jonathan and Michael Pepper; his great-grandchildren, William Jr. and Lauren; and many nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy H. and Grace (nee Schwemm) Pepper.
