Tom served in Company G, Regiment 41 of the Alabama Volunteers during the Civil War. He served from 1862 to 1865, was wounded, and lost one arm. His application for pension was on July 6th, 1892. He moved to Hon, Arkansas a few months before his death. He was married to Tempie Elizabeth Strickland Sept. 7, 1959 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.
