Funeral services for Jerry Ray Waters, age 70, of Buffalo, Texas have been set for 3 pm, Sunday, July 9, 2017 at the Walters’ Buffalo Funeral Home. Bro. Craig Graham, Bro. Ray Grissett and Bro. Johnny Veretto will officiate and burial will follow in the Buffalo City Cemetery. Visitation is set for 6 pm until 8 pm on Saturday evening, July 8, 2017 at the funeral home. Jerry Waters was born on November 14, 1946 in Buffalo to Layton and Gertrude (Danford) Waters. He lived most of his life in Leon County and was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church. He graduated from Buffalo high School in 1964. He was a graduate of Sam Houston State University with a degree in Mechanical Arts. He enjoyed watching Westerns on T.V., fishing, hunting and riding horses. He loved to watch his children and grandchildren playing sports. He retired as a chief inspector of the Texas Department of Transportation. He had started working for them in Tyler and, then, transferred to the Buffalo Office. Jerry passed away jn Bryan, Texas on July 6, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Alvin Waters. His surviving family includes sons, Daniel Ray Waters (Rachel), Adam Cole Waters (Melissa) and Jeremy Blake Waters all of Buffalo; a daughter, Monica Adell Tennant of Tyler; a sister, Yvonne Waters Woodard of the Flo Community; ten grandchildren: Riley and Cambridge Tennant and Ezara, Amity, Jaron and Glori Cozart and Layla, Avery, Karlee and Layton Waters and a great grandchild, Rhett. Serving as pallbearers are Dugan Woodard, Eric Woodard, Ray Waters, Ronnie Waters, Gary Danford and Larry Andrews. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Rondall Mullenax, Ronnie Long, Fred Danford, Charlie Waters, Mac Reeder, Bobby Ray Harris and Alan Waters.
