PESOTUM – Helen M. Bates, 94, of Pesotum passed away at 5:05 a.m. Thursday (July 6, 2017) at Tuscola Health Care Center, Tuscola.
Funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 8, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Tolono, with the Rev. Fredi Gomeztorres officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Pesotum. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Freese Funeral Home, Tolono.
Mrs. Bates was born on May 14, 1923, at Pesotum, a daughter to William and Dora Kleiss Christian. She married Wayne T. Bates on Feb. 18, 1941, at Pesotum. He preceded her in death on July 8, 1990.
Surviving is a son, Steven (Ruth) Bates of Pesotum.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons and a brother.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pesotum, until its closure, then she attended St. Patrick Catholic Church, Tolono.
She helped her husband build houses for 40 years until their retirement.
