Mr. Nelson, a resident of Columbia for the past 29 years, was a native of the part of old Lexington which is now part of Calhoun County.
He was the son of Theodore Nelson and Catherine Davis Nelson, pioneer Calhoun County residents.
For a number of years Mr. Nelson was associated here with the National Biscuit Company, and was a member of the Rose Hill Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his widow, the former Miss Eileen Plowden and six brothers, William Nelson of Gaston, and the following of Columbia; Dr. George K. Nelson, Ellison C. Nelson, T. M. Nelson, Edward K. Nelson and Claude C. Nelson.
Funeral services will be conducted from Rose Hill Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. B. C. Tschudy. Interment will follow in Elmwood.
The body of Mr. Nelson will be at the McCormick Funeral Home until 10 a. m. and then will be take to the residence, 403 South Waccamaw until the hour of service.
The pallbearers will include the following nephews: Theodore Nelson, E. T. Nelson, Ellison C. Nelson, Jr., Vernon Nelson, Edgar Nelson, Thomas Stably, Henry W. Plowden, Jr. and George Keith Nelson.
