Grover Henry McDaniel, age 72 of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2017 at the McCurtain Memorial Hospital in Idabel, Oklahoma. Henry was born, August 11, 1944 in Shawnee, Oklahoma, the son of Iris Winford McDaniel and Della Cooper McDaniel.

He attended Broken Bow Schools through the 10th grade and then transferring to Battiest High School. Henry enlisted in the United States Navy on May 12, 1966. He served in Vietnam from May 13, 1967 to May 3, 1968 during which he was awarded a Purple Heart. Henry married the love of his life Wanda Scarberry on September 7, 1968. He attended East Texas University, graduating with a degree in Elementary Education and earning a master's degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Social Studies. He also attended the Oklahoma Baptist University and Eastern Oklahoma State College.

Henry was employed as a Service Officer at the Arkansas Department of Veteran's Affairs and as a Veteran's Benefits Counselor at the VA Regional Office. Henry was an avid OU and Broken Bow Savage Fan. He enjoyed caring for his animals and loved and cherished his time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. His wonderful personality and caring heart will be remembered and missed by all who knew him.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Iris Winford and Della McDaniel; brother Gilbert McDaniel and sister, Kathy Adair.

His memory will be forever cherished by his wife of 48 years, Wanda McDaniel of the home; son and daughter in law, James McDaniel and wife Tammy of Springdale, Arkansas; daughter and son in law, Darla Moore and husband Kenneth of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Desirae Goyette of Lamar, Arkansas and Hunter and Haylee Moore of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; great grandchildren, Maggie and Shain Goyette of Lamar, Arkansas; brothers and sisters in law, Elvis McDaniel and wife Linda of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, Wilbert McDaniel and wife Linda of DeQueen, Arkansas, Gary McDaniel and wife Wanda of Franklin, North Carolina and Stephen McDaniel of Ardmore; sisters, Allene Reid of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Leila Deal of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, Macy Hardaway of Battiest, Oklahoma, Kay Wilson and husband Rick of Broken Bow, Oklahoma and Martha Sue Russo of the Dominican Republic; special friends, Perry and Tina Turner of Sherwood, Arkansas and Lois Martin of Lonoke, Arkansas; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Oak Hill Independent Assembly of God Church in Broken Bow, Oklahoma, with the Bro. Robert Stuart, Bro. Larry Morris and Bro. Neil Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at the Watson Memorial Cemetery in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.
