J. C. was born January 25, 1926 in Thornton, Texas to James Clate and Ollie Carrell Adams. The Thornton area was home for his entire life. He married the love of his life, Mary Lillie McDade on December 16, 1944; they were blessed with two sons, Michael Wayne and Jeffery Lynn. J.C and Mary raised their family during some difficult times, but trusting in the Lord and working together, their love and life only grew stronger.

J. C., a proud American, served his country in the US Army during World War II - Pacific Theater. He worked, a few years, for the Railroad and the V.A. Hospital In-Patient Care in Marlin for 30 years while, also, maintaining his farm/ranch. The farm was a lot of work, but it gave him so much pleasure, especially, raising cattle. With the help of his sons, happily, he was able to keep his farm and cattle for the duration of his life.

J. C.’s life reflected his love for God, family, friends and his community. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, nothing made him happier than being surrounded by his family. After retirement, most of his time was spent helping raise his grandkids and, possibility spoiling them a little. He believed in respecting people, hard work and helping others. J.C. was a faithful, active member of the Central Baptist Church in Thornton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Adams; brother, Raymond Adams and an infant brother.

J. C. is survived by his sons, Michael Wayne Adams and wife, Allison of Thornton and Jeffery Lynn Adams and wife, Jennifer of Thornton; grandchildren, Jessica Lynn Hyde and husband, Jay, Justin Lynn Adams and wife, Courtney, Julie Lynn Kinter and husband, Gyorgy, Michael Wayne Adams, Jr. and Lady Amanda Adams; and great-grandchildren, Austin Hyde, Ashton Hyde, Skylar Meadows, Rylie Adams and Harper Adams.
