Erma A. Ross, 90, of New Kensington, died peacefully on Thursday, June 29, 2017. She was born April 27, 1927, in New Kensington, to the late Lloyd and Zelma Bowser Claypoole, and was a New Kensington resident her entire life. Erma was office manager of Bobar Instruments Inc. of Lower Burrell for 30 years. Prior to marriage, she worked at ALCOA. Mrs. Ross was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of New Kensington and Upper Burrell Township, and attended the Orchard Hill Church in Wexford the past five years. She enjoyed watching Pirates baseball, going to church and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a creative writer and for many years was the "church mouse" for the First Baptist Church. Surviving are her children, Karen (Tim "Ty") Lasher, of Nashville, Tenn., Jamie Kiger and Darleen (Randy) Barker, both of New Kensington; grandchildren, Aaron (Sharee) Lasher, Brandi (Mike) Gentry, Ryan (Ashley) Wilferd, Nicolette (Tom) Lawry, Brittaney (Ryan) Moore, Aleitta (Patrick) Weber and Attaleigh (Brandon) Thurber; and 16 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, James E. Ross, in 2006; and two brothers, Clifford Claypoole and Greer Claypoole. Viewing will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington,, where a service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday. Entombment will be in the Greenwood Memorial Park Mausoleum.
