Mrs S. G. Herr relict of the late Daniel Herr, died at 11:30 today at her residence No 2108 N. Thirteenth Street, Philadelphia in her eightieth year. She was born in Gettysburg, coming from the old Gilbert family in that vicinity. She married Daniel Herr, of Harrisburg, who kept the Herr House (the present Lochiel) until his death in 1856, (sic) when she retired, her son Gilbert succeeding to the hotel. For a number of years she made her home with her son, A. J. Herr, of this city, removing to Philadelphia about 6 years ago. She leaves nine children to mourn her loss. Hon. A. J. Herr, Daniel B Herr, Mrs. Dr. Wiestling, Mrs. George Z. Kunkel of Harrisburg, Gilbert Herr, Mrs. George Leonard and Mrs. C. A. Bannvart, of Philadelphia, Mrs. A. M. Hassler of Carlisle, and Mrs. C. C. Lips of Los Angeles, CA. The remains will be brought to Harrisburg for interment. Her memory is fresh in the hearts of many who shared her hospitality and to whom she she endeared herself by many acts of kindness. She died an humble believer in Jesus "Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord, they rest from their labors and their works do follow them."
