James Purcell Wallace, 77, of 231 Wilkinson died Friday at Schumpert Medical Center after a lengthy illness.

A native of Winnfield, he had lived in Shreveport since 1917. He was an attorney and a member of the Louisiana Bar Association. Mr. Wallace was a member of Noel Memorial United Methodist Church, the Petroleum Club, Kappa Alpha Order, and was a Mason and a Shriner.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Saturday Noel Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Al Trickett, both of Noel Memorial United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Juliet Jolly Wallace of Shreveport; and a sister, Mrs. Willie May Dunlop of Shreveport.

Pallbearers will be McVea Oliver, Dr. John L. Scales, Robert Roberts Jr., Robert Roberts III, Casimer Moss, Jacques Steinau, Dr. William McElroy and Edward Jolly Jr.
