REBECCA LEONA ASHLEY CASSELL, age 75, widow of the late James Jerry Cassell passed away on Sunday June 25, 2017. Born in Honea Path SC she was a daughter of the late George Dale Ashley Sr and Ollie Christeen Burroughs Ashley.
Mrs Cassell was a graduate of the Greenville Hospital School of Nursing, earned her Masters of Nursing degree from the University of South Carolina, and retired from Greenville Health System.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in North Myrtle Beach. She was the former President of the Greenville Jaycee-ettes and was the first female Secretary of the Belton Kiwanis Club.
She loved crafts and crocheted numerous prayer shawls for her church.
Mrs Cassell is survived by three sisters, Evelyn Ashley, Jane Ashley Ballenger (Tony), and Judy Ashley Brock (Pascal); a brother, George Dale Ashley Jr; three nieces, Cathy Miller, Cindy Hunter (Shawn), and Christeen Sheridan (Thai); two nephews, William Ashley (Beth) and Dale Ashley (Brandi); three great-nephews; and AH her cat.
She was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Patricia Ashley; and a nephew, Brian Ashley.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday June 29, 2017 at 3:00 pm at the Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel 1 Pine Knoll Drive Greenville SC with burial to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
