My great-great grandfather, Robert Edgar Graves was born on 30 Dec 1846 at Marshall, AL.

William, Jesee, James, Elizabeth, Nancy and Robert were listed as a household members living with James Stephen Graves Jr. and wife Eliza on the 1850 Census of 12 Dec 1850 at District 22, Marshall, AL.

James, Nancy and Robert were listed as a household members living with Eliza Jane Walker on the 1860 Census enumerated 28 Jun 1860 at Eastern Division, Marshall, AL.

Robert was a confederate soldier in US Civil War in May 1865 at Co B 4th AL Calvery, Guntersville, Marshall, AL. Private R.E Graves stated in his Texas Soldiers Application for a Pension (# 32333) on 26 Aug 1915, that he honorable surrendered about May 1865 in Guntersville, AL. He stated he served about 8 months in Stewarts Batallion, Robbys Brigade, Cavelry. Included in the Pension application are four notarized statements from men who stated that R.E. Graves was in Company B 4th Alabama Calvery. The application for pension was approved on affidavite of witnesses.

At age 21, he married Martha Alvira (Myra) Moore in AL on 6 Apr 1868.

Family legend has it that Robert and Martha Graves left AL after the Civil War ended with a wagon train and settled in Georges Creek when one of the horses on their covered wagon died.
