Passed on from this life on August 12, 2000 at home following a long illness. She was 82. Born and raised-in San Francisco, Thelma married her beloved husband, Donald D. Doyle on May 17, 1941. The couple enjoyed 59 wonderful years of married life together. Thelma and Don, a retired San Francisco businessman and prominent California state legislator, were active in community and civic activities. A 50 year resident of the East Bay, Mrs. Doyle lived in Alamo for 38 years. A homemaker and dedicated mother and grandmother, Thelma was an avid bridge player, gardener and golfer. She was a volunteer for the Contra Costa County Heart Association, and with her husband, Don, supported grateful students of Saint Mary's College of California with scholarships. In additon to her husband, Don, survivors include a son, Donald D. Doyle Jr. of San Francisco, his wife Arlene, and their children, Kristine and Patrick; a son, David D. Doyle of Petaluma his wife, Sheila and their son Matthew; and a nephew,William Scott of Sebastopol. Thelma's family and friends will always remember fondly her kind and gentle spirit and love of people. A celebration of Thelma's wonderful life will be Tuesday, August 22nd at two o'clock p.m. at the Danville Community Presbyterian Church, 222 El Pintado Road in Danville. Interment services were private. Arrangements by Oakmont Memorial Park and Mortuary, Lafayette. Contributions preferred to the American Heart Association, Contra Costa County Chapter and to the Donald and Thelma Doyle Scholarship at Saint Mary's College, Moraga, California.
