Enlisted as a private in Co. I, 96th O. V. I. and served ten months; on account of sickness; he was honorably discharged; in 1864 he recruited Co. E. of the 132nd O. V. I. for 100 day's service, serving as Captain of Co. E. until the expiration of his time after which he returned to Logan Co.; in 1872.
