Ack Lee Harned, 74, Brandenburg, died June 25, 2017, at Baptist Health Louisville. He was born August 6, 1942, in Louisville, the son of Quinn E. Harned and Mary Evelyn Lee Harned.

Mr. Harned graduated from Southern High School, Okolona. He attended Georgetown College where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order. He graduated from the University of Kentucky Pharmacy School. During his 41 year career as a pharmacist, he was co-owner of Meade Drugs and practiced at several other pharmacies including Grantz Drugs, CVS, and Kroger. He belonged to Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity. Mr. Harned served as president of the Central Elementary/James R. Allen PTO, and was president of the Meade County High School Band Boosters for 10 years. He was on the Meade County Fair Board for 18 years and was awarded Fair Person of the Year. He was a member of First Baptist Church and previously taught Sunday School and sang in the choir.

Mr. Harned loved God and his faithfulness to Christ was evident in the way he lived his life. He was an avid fisherman and loved to watch and feed the birds. He enjoyed singing and listening to beautiful music, attending the Louisville Bats games, and rooting for the Kentucky Wildcats. His favorite pastimes were spending time with his children and grandchildren and taking long spontaneous road trips, discovering good places to eat along the way. He loved to tell the greatest stories – and some of them were even true! If you drove by Mr. Harned’s house, chances are you would find him sitting on the front porch where he loved to visit with his friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Teresa Lee Brumley.

Mr. Harned is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara Ann Ashcraft Harned, Brandenburg; a sister, Linda Dean (George) Parish, Taylorsville; a brother, Robert “Bob” Darrell Harned, Lebanon Junction; two daughters, Kimberly Dawn Harned, Elizabethtown, and Susan Camille (Kevin) Hobbs, The Woodlands, Texas; three grandchildren, Kevin Tyler Hobbs, Durham, N.C., Kaylee Allison Hobbs, Chapel Hill, N.C., and Braden Acklee Hobbs, The Woodlands, Texas; a mother-in-law, Harriet Ann Bannon, Frankfort; two brothers-in-law, Curran Lee (Betty) Troutwine, Frankfort, and Mike Brumley, Taylorsville; several nieces and nephews; and one constant companion, his dog, Manny.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 29, 2017, at noon at First Baptist Church, Brandenburg, with Rev. Sherman Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow at St. George Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 28 from 2-8 p.m. at Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home, and Thursday, June 29 from 10:30 a.m.-noon at the church.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Georgetown College, Office of Institutional Advancement, 400 East College Street, Georgetown, KY 40324 or First Baptist Church, 149 Lawrence Street, Brandenburg, KY 40108.
