Crossing the ‘finish line’, long time San Francisco resident Dorothy “Dottie” E. Poppin, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2017 at her home. Dottie rejoins her husband, George, who passed away in March 2010. After 66 years together, they are reunited.

Dottie was preceded in death by both of her parents, Thomas and Emily Ritter (Forster) and two brothers, Ralph Ritter and Paul Wheeler. She is survived by her four children, Nancy Umland of Marysville, CA, Tom Poppin of Palo Cedro CA, Joan Mickelson of San Francisco, CA and Debbie Jeffries, of Willow Creek, CA; 6 grandchildren, 9 great-children, and one great-great granddaughter. She is also survived by three nieces, Dawn, Pam and Lani.

Dottie was an alumnus of the Old Lowell High School and a graduate of the St. Joseph’s Hospital College of Nursing. She found enjoyment with her sewing, bridge and gardening. Her family was her greatest joy and loved spending time with them during the holidays.

A mass will be held for the repose of her soul on a later date at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 17th Ave. & Vicente St, San Francisco, CA.
