Obituary of Charles Kermen

A lifelong Whatcom County resident, Charles F. Kermen was born in Bellingham, WA to Henry and Gladys (Pullar) Kermen on July 18, 1931. After his graduation from Burlington-Edison High School, Charles enlisted in the Air Force and served in the Korean War. He received the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, National Defense Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.

Charles married Shirley A. Rand in 1953 and they shared 64 wonderful years together. After Charles retired from the WA State Department of Transportation where he worked as an engineer, he and Shirley spent many years as snowbirds with the Holiday Rambler RV Club. He was also a lifetime member of the VFW.

Preceding Charles in death are his brother, Gerald Kermen, and sister, Elaine (Kermen) Pinney.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley.

A graveside service with military honors will take place on Monday, July 24th at 2:00pm at Greenacres Memorial Park (5700 NW Drive, Ferndale).
