Alfred C. Ahouse, age 78 of 2238 South Street, died on Sunday, April 22, 2007 at Geneva General Hospital.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 9:00pm on Tuesday (Apr 24) at Covert Funeral Home, 7199 So. Main Street, Ovid. A funeral service will be held at Noon on Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Rob Foote of Trinity Lutheran Church of Ithaca. Interment will be held at West Lodi Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Al’s name may be directed to Four Towns Community Center, PO Box 91, Ovid, NY 14521 or the Beverly Animal Shelter, 50 East River Road, Waterloo, NY 13165.
Al was born on August 7, 1928 in Nanticoke, PA, a son of the late Victor B. and Ida E. Ahouse. He moved to the Lodi area in the late 1940’s, and began his 35 year career as a Union carpenter with the Corning Local #700. Al was also a farmer and milk tester for the Dairyland Improvement Corp and Cornell Cooperative Extension. He also served as the Lodi Town Supervisor from 1968 to 1974. Al was an avid hunter, and his friends and family will fondly remember his devotion to the Green Bay Packers.
Al is survived by his companion of 31 years, June Kenyon, his children; Gary (Anne) Ahouse of Jermyn, PA, David C. Ahouse of Lodi and Melanie Ahouse of Ovid, a step-son, Dennis (Karen Morrow) Kenyon, his step-daughter’s husband; Larry “Bart” Caslin, grandchildren; Alex, Wesley, Gary, David, Ashley, Regan, Jonathan, Nicolas and Trevor, two great grandchildren, siblings; Morgan Ahouse, Bernard (Irene) Ahouse, Olga Bragg, and Mildred (Robert) Toole, numerous nieces and nephews, and the mother of his children, Barbara Coulters. He was preceded in death by his step-daughter, Brenda Caslin and by a sister, Ruth Brooks.
