Mrs. E. Massey Buried Sunday
Last sad rites were held Sunday afternoon for Mrs. Eliza Massie, who passed away at 2:15 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. M. A. west, in Gonzales. Mrs. Massie was 81 years of her death.
Rev. B. C. Knox conducted the beautiful and impressive services at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon from the Antioch aBaptist church, and brought an inspiring message of tenderness and hope to the scores of grieving friends and relatives who had gathered to pay their last respectful tribute to one whom they had known and loved. Mrs. Massie had lived a beautiful and useful life and was known as a devoted mother and sister, and a true and loyal friend to all those with whom she came in contact.
Interment was made in the Caraway cemetery, where beautiful floral offerings made lovely the last resting place.
Mrs. Massie leaves to mourn her passing, besides her scores of friends, two daughters, Mrs. Susie west of Stockdale and Mrs. M. A. West of Gonzales; one son, Virgil Massie of New Braunfels; two sisters, Mrs. Adele Wilson of West Columbia, and Mrs. Lora West of Leesville; one brother, Van Caraway of Gonzales; five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
She was born in Gonzales on January 27, 1859, and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Caraway, who preceded her in death years ago.
As a young lady, she became a member of the Baptist church, and was an active and faithful member of that church as long as her health permitted.
