ARTHUR THOMPSON, SR.
Arthur R. Thompson, Sr., 66, of 309 East Sixty-ninth, died last night, apparently of a heart attack, on his way home from attending a church meeting.
He retired about a year ago after 30 years with the Cook Paint and Varnish company. The last seven years he was general credit manager.
Mr. Thompson was born in Parsons, Kas., and lived here 31 years. During World War I he served in the Army. He was a graduate of the University of Kansas City school of law.
Mr. Thompson was an elder of the South Presbyterian church. Previously he was an elder of the Southeast Presbyterian church.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Sheldon Thompson of the home; two sons, Arthur R. Thompson, Jr., Flossmoor, Ill., and Donald S. Thompson, Glen Ellyn. Ill.; a daughter, Miss Patricia L. Thompson of the home; two brothers, Fred R. Thompson and Ernie R. Thompson, both of Parsons; three sisters, Mrs. Orville L. Gray and Mrs. Alfred J. Campbell, both of Parsons, and Miss Myrtle Thompson, Wichita, and five grandchildren. The family requests no flowers and suggests contributions to the memorial fund of the South Presbyterian church.
