Mrs. Marie Rich Crump, age 84 of Blairsville, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Union County Nursing Home. Mrs. Crump was born August 3, 1932 in Blairsville to the late Jewell and Fannie Colwell Rich. As a young woman, Marie was a gospel singer along with her father, Jewell. They sang together in many churches in the North Georgia and Western North Carolina areas. She and her husband, Harold, moved to Michigan where they lived and worked for many years before moving back to Blairsville in 1986. She worked a a nurse for 27 years both in Michigan and and in Hiawassee. Marie was of the Baptist faith attending both New Harmony Baptist Church and Harmony Grove Baptist Church. She also was a longtime member of the Union County Historical Society. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Crump in 2007.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the chapel of the Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville. Interment will follow in Union Memory Gardens Cemetery.
