Robert E. “Bobby” Sanders, 82, passed away peacefully in his sleep June 19, 2017 surrounded by loving family at South Central Regional Medical Center. He leaves behind his wife of fifty-eight years, Judy Pearl (Vinzant) Sanders.
Bobby Sanders was born Sept. 13, 1935 in Laurel, Miss. He attended Sandersville High School (’54), Jones County Jr. College (’56), University of Southern Mississippi (’62). Sanders served in the US Army (1958-1960) before working for the Jones County School System (1960-1968). He worked for the Mississippi Department of Transportation Right of Way Division in 1968 until retiring in 2006. He was a member and Ruling Elder of United Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Sanders was involved in the following organizations: Past President of Sandersville Lions Club, Past Present of Jones County USM Alumni Association, Past President of Mississippi Chapter of the International Right-of-Way Association, Education Committee International Right-of-Way Association, and Appointment to MDOT Weight Appeals Board by Governor Phil Bryant.
He will be remembered for his love of Christ and the church, devotion to his wife and family, and USM football. Go Eagles.
He is survived by wife Judy Sanders; step-sister Sarah Ann Hardage Sumrall; children, Deborah Kizzar (Terry Kizzar), Betty JoAnn (BJ) Helton (Tony), Robin Sanders Fee, Max Sanders (Melissa); grandchildren, Sara Smith Holifield (Gregory) Kennedy Jarrell (William) and Cameron Sanders, Hayley and Macey Fee, Jonathan and Thomas Kizzar; greatgrandchildren; Benton and Baylor Ann Holifield, Jacob Jarrell.

Visitation will be held at Memory Chapel on Wednesday, June 21 from 6 until 9 p.m. Funeral services will be at Sandersville Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. on Thursday. Interment will follow at Sandersville Cemetery. Bro. Sid Leake and Bro. Ed Ludt will officiate.
