Mary Elizabeth (Self) Lantz, age 78, of Gerrardstown, WV and formerly of Maysville, WV died Sunday, June 18, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Lantz was born February 28, 1939 in Smoke Hole, WV and was a daughter of the late John William Self and Nellie Myrtle (Kimble) Self.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Homer Allen Lantz in 2009; one daughter Shirley Lou Lantz, an infant son Allen Dale Lantz, son-in-law John P. Reckner, Sr.; one sister, Jessie Smith; and four brothers, Harman Self, Loran Ray Self, Eston Eugene Self and Arch Self.
Mary devoted her life caring for her family. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Surviving are three daughters, Ruth Ann Lantz and Carolyn Lantz of Gerrardstown, WV, and Nellie (David) Prisby of Hedgesville, WV; one son Allen William “Bill” (Tina) Lantz of Harpers Ferry, WV, six grandchildren, John Reckner Jr., Victoria Prisby, Blake, Mason, Kaitlyn and Lauren Lantz; and special family, the Walter Whetzel Family; and half brother, Earl Kimble.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home with Elder J. Stephen Kimble and Elder Richard Whetzel officiating. Burial will be in the Kimble Family Cemetery in Smoke Hole, WV.
