Gabriel S. Abellada, 73, Greensburg, passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at the Aspen Place Health Campus in Greensburg.
Born, October 6, 1943 in Manila, Philippines, he was the son of Gabriel and Jacinta (Servito) Abellada.
Gabriel graduated from FEATI University in Manila with a Bachelor Degree in electrical engineering. He worked as an electrical engineer for the Bureau of Public Works in the Philippines and a detailed inspector at the office of the President in the Malacanang Palace. When he came to the United States, he worked as a quality inspector in electrical HVAC for the railroad and he worked part time at Sears and Public Telephone.
Gabriel was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
He was married to Lydia Rosario Camba on April 9, 970 and she survives.
He is also survived by his father, Gabriel Abellada, Sr., Kapoli, Hawaii; two sons, Aldwin (Brook) Abellada, Simpsonville, SC, Bernard Abellada, Palm Desert, CA; one daughter, Geraldine (Bob) Thomas, Indianapolis; two brothers, Mario Abellada, Hawaii, Alfredo Abellada, Philippines; three sisters, Thelma DelaCruz, Charlestown, SC, Estrelita Kintanar, Iowa, Nancy Lontok, Greensburg; five grandchildren, Nathan, Maria, Robby, Ross, and Reece.
He was preceded in death by his mother and one brother, Efren Abellada.
Family and friends will gather at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home to pray the rosary. Visitation will follow until 7:00 p.m. at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. The family will also receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 23, 2017 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greensburg with Rev. John Meyer officiating.
Interment will be held in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the St. Mary's Church Building Fund.
