Loren Henry Dunn, 87, of McCammon returned home to his Heavenly Father on the night of June 16, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
Loren Cecil and Ruby Dayton Dunn were blessed to welcome Loren to their family on August 18, 1929 in Montpelier, ID. Loren spent most of his childhood in the Bear Lake area.
Loren married the love of his life and eternal partner, Roberta Valoy Lake, on June 15, 1951 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They lived in Inkom and then moved to McCammon in about 1962 where they settled and finished raising their 5 boys.
Loren worked for the Union Pacific Railroad from 1950 until he finally retired in 1991 after 41 years on the tracks.
Loren was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served his church faithfully. He received many different callings and served each of them proudly. He and Berts served faithfully as temple workers at the Idaho Falls Temple from 1993 to 2007. They enjoyed and looked forward to their Friday night trips together.
Loren enjoyed spending his free time outdoors. He was a member of the ski patrol for many years. He was 80 years old when he had to put the skis away to take care of his Berts. He engrained a love of camping and hunting in his boys that still continues today. He and Berts enjoyed going to dances and taking trips together. He loved going to watch his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews play sports. He enjoyed coaching softball and loved to tell stories from his time spent doing it.
Loren is survived by four sons, Kyle (Marlean), Curtis (JoDeana), Mitchell (Mickey), Darren (Karalee), daughter-in-law Marsha, sisters Donna (Don-deceased) Green, Carol (Jim) Guthrie, Janie (Lynn) Harris, sister-in-law Joyce, brother-in-law David Lake, 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Roberta, his parents, stepmother Blanche, brother Gerald, his eldest son Michael and his granddaughter Mandy.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday, June 22, 2017 at the McCammon LDS Stake Center. A viewing will be Wednesday June 21, 2017 from 6-8pm at the church and on Thursday 1 hour prior to the funeral. Interment will be in the Norton Cemetery following the funeral.
