He is survived by five children and their spouses: Joan Manuel and husband Mike, Mike Guillory and wife Jane, Liz Renfro, Paul Guillory and wife Jo, Annette Nikonovich and husband Peter. He is also survived by ten grandchildren: Nicholas Manuel, Leslie Manuel Worley, Brandon Guillory, Ryan Guillory, Abbey Guillory Herman, Graham Guillory, Garan Guillory, Galen Guillory, Natalie Nikonovich Gillen and Taylor Nikonovich. Seven great grandchildren: Kelland Guillory, Piper Guillory, Molly Guillory, Sophie Guillory, William Herman, Bennett Herman and Gabe Guillory.

MAMOU — A. Bruce Guillory, longtime resident of Mamou, La, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2017. He was born October 6, 1923, the son of A.V. “Black” and Evelyn O’Connor Guillory. He grew up in Pine Point, LA and attended Louisiana State University prior to enlisting in the US Navy.
Bruce was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Guillory, his parents “Black” and Evelyn O’Connor Guillory and sisters Hazel Deshotels and Gladys Mayeux.
He married his sweetheart, Gladys LaHaye, on June 2, 1946. They moved to Mamou, LA. where they opened Guillory Wholesale which they owned and operated for 50 years.
On Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 1:30pm a funeral mass, officiated by Father Robert Courville, will be celebrated at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou, LA. The family will receive guests beginning at 12:30pm at the church.
Bruce was a man of strong faith and strength. He and Gladys both loved people and were very active in their community. He served as chairman of the board of Guaranty Bank of Mamou for 40 years. He was a member of the founding board of The Mamou Health Resources, serving for 21 years. He was active in the Rotary club, Knights of Columbus and St. Ann’s Catholic Church.
The Guillory family would like to thank Pearlie Celestine for her many years of service and love.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou, La. or a charity of your choice.
