María Ermelinda "Ermie" Jaramillo passed away peacefully at home in Socorro, NM, on Tuesday, June 14, 2017. Ermie was surrounded in love by her husband, Toby, children and spouses, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ermie was born on January 30, 1944 in San Francisco, New Mexico to Genovevo and Teresita Girón-Griego.
When Ermie was three years old, her mother passed away and she was raised by her paternal grandparents, Mauricio and Gregoria P. Griego.
On June 12, 1965 she was united in holy matrimony to Toby Jaramillo. The union was blessed with six children. They celebrated 52 years of loving marriage on June 12, 2017.
Ermie was known for her love of family, music, singing, playing her guitar, sewing and cooking wonderful meals for her family and friends. Most importantly she was known for her glowing smile. Ermie supported Toby for over 40 years in their annual Christmas Food Drive, providing thousands of meals to families in Socorro and surrounding counties.
Ermie was an active member of the San Miguel Catholic Church and church choir, singing with her angelic voice for over 40 years. Ermie also composed Corazon Pequeño which was recorded by her brother, Roberto Griego. The Archdiocese of Santa Fé awarded Ermie and Toby with the St. Francis of Assisi Award for their dedicated years of service to the church and community.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her family, her husband, Toby Jaramillo, her children, Theresa Sánchez and her husband, Pat, Berna Jaramillo, Mary Armijo and her husband, Robert, Roberta Sánchez and her husband, Daniel, Toby Michael Jaramillo and his wife, Cecelia and Elizabeth Jaramillo, her grandchildren, Mario and his wife, Gabby, Luz and her husband, Justin, Arianna, Brianna, Jessica and her husband, Travis, Jerad and his husband, William, Alyssa, Marissa, Veronica, Daniel, Esai, Elianna, Emilio, Gabriel and Josiah, her great-grandchildren, Lily, Kamilah, Sofie, Grace and Vance, her brothers, Roberto Griego and Reynaldo Griego and step-mother, Margaret Griego, her aunt, Ninfa Córdova and many cousins and cherished friends.
Ermie was preceded in death by her parents, Genovevo and Teresita Griego, aunts, Maximiana Griego, Clarita Romero, María Vigil Griego and Petrita Girón Sánchez, uncles, Santiago P. Griego, José Girón, Luis Girón, Patricio Girón, Federico Girón, Trinidad Girón, Alberto Girón, Philodelfio Girón and Leo Córdova.
Ermie was loved by many, her Christian life was as beautiful as her sweet voice. Her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. Her philosophy was: Do what is right and do what is good. Be kind, help others and love one another.
A Viewing will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, June 19, 2017, at San Miguel Catholic Church, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Final Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Our Lady of Belén Catholic Church, with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belén Memorial Gardens.
Mother, your beauty, generosity, kindness, love and support will forever be in our hearts. We are extremely grateful for you and all that you have taught and instilled in us. We will continue your teachings for many generations to come.
