9. Samuel3 Hand (Stephen2, John1) was born in 1672 of his father’s second marriage to Rebecca Stratton and was named in his father’s will of May 17, 1688. He married Elizabeth - -. The Rattray history of East Hampton names 2 sons, Stephen and Jonathan. A Bible record states that Jonathan had 2 siblings. Furthermore, two family records have been found naming Nehemiah as the son of Samuel.

i. Stephen4, b. ca 1692/3; d. May 10, 1743; m. and had children: Damaris5 bp. 1713; Rebecca 1716; Abigail 1719; Martha 1723; and Stephen 1725.
