Clara Deines, 97, of Lincoln and formerly of Kearney died Wednesday, June 14, 2017 in Lincoln. Funeral Services will be Monday, June 19, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lincoln. Pastor Clint Poppe and Pastor Christopher Maronde will officiate. Burial will be at Kearney Cemetery with graveside services at 3:00 p.m. Monday afternoon with Pastor David Kahle and Pastor Heath Trampe officiating.
Clara was born on November 20, 1919 on a farm south of Wakeeney, Kansas to Henry and Anna
(Schmidt) Dietz. She attended country school and graduated from Trego County High School in Wakeeney. Following high school, Clara worked in Kansas City, Missouri at Montgomery Wards and for the Civil Aeronautics as a civil service worker. She married Oscar Deines in 1943 in Wakeeney. She lived with her brother Henry until Oscar returned home from WWII. For most of her life she was a homemaker. She worked at Good Samaritan Nursing homes run by her husband. She worked for Fiddelke Heating and Air in Kearney. She worked for Sears before retiring. She loved cooking for her family and always welcomed everyone into her home. Clara was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed.
Surviving relatives include five children, Catherine Kahle and her husband Alton of Kearney, Steven Deines of Falls Church, Virginia, Arlen Deines and his wife Cheryl of Ravenna, Denith Koffarnus and her husband Dallas of Lincoln and Pamela Deines of Lincoln; thirteen grandchildren, Christine McElroy, David Kahle, Mark Kahle, Andrea Trampe, Michael Koffarnus, Andrew Koffarnus, Sarah Friedman, Thomas Koffarnus, Jacob Deines, Jeremiah Deines, Joshua Deines, Emily Deines and Elizabeth Deines; sixteen great grandchildren, Keyon Newell, Kanoe Newell, Katia Newell, Tapainga Kahle, Leyton Kahle, Autumn Kahle, Jonathan Trampe, Andrew Trampe, Jaxstin Deines, Anna Koffarnus, Evan Koffarnus, Claire Koffarnus, Isaac Friedman, Norah Friedman, Shaina Wickline and Benjamin McElroy; four great great granddaughters, Trinity McElroy, Arabell McElroy, Lucilla Wickline, Everly Wickline.
Clara was preceded in death by her husband Oscar on July 4, 2008, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
