Alexander Rene Durazo, 27, returned to his heavenly home on June 7, 2017. He was a twin and one of six children. He was raised to love all walks of life and live his life for the Lord. Alex loved life and lived to help others. He had a heart like no other! His smile, sense of humor, and his saying, "you're kidding, right?" will be greatly missed.

Alex graduated Hughson High School. He played football, ran track and wrestled. He was involved in the Buddy Check 22 program and worked for VFW Post 97 in Bakersfield, CA.

On August 16, 2008, Alex proudly enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was assigned to the 1-71; Calvary 1st. Infantry brigade Combat Team. 10th Mountain Division. He was deployed to Iraq in 2008 & to Afghanistan from 2010-2011. Alex proved himself as an exemplary soldier and humanitarian in both Iraq and Afghanistan. In Iraq, he participated in numerous air assault missions as well as ground raids and tactical site exploitation missions. Alex was also responsible for saving lives and assisting numerous Afghan soldiers. On Sept. 26, 2013, SPC Alexander Rene Durazo was Medically Retired with an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Army.

His greatest accomplishment was becoming a father. His love for his daughter Lily was evident in the sparkle in his eyes, and the width of his smile when he talked about her. She was the love of his life!

Alex is preceded in death by his father Rudy Bart Acosta and his biological father Michael Durazo Sr.

He is survived by his mother Gloria (Durazo) Hicks, daughter, Liliana Rene Durazo, mother Emily Durazo; twin sister Alexandria (Derrick) Jones; brothers Michael Durazo Jr. & Carlos Durazo; sisters; Ethel Acosta & SenSarah Acosta; three nephews.

Services for Alex will be held Saturday, June 17; Graveside Burial at Oakdale Citizens Cemetery at 10 am followed by a Memorial Service at First Southern Baptist Church at 12 pm, reception immediately following.
