Services for Adolfo R. Cantua, 60, of Jacksonville, will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home with Pastor Donny Sadler officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Tyler, under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.

Mr. Cantua passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2017. He was born January 14, 1957 in Torreon, Coahuila, MX to Adolfo Cantua Gonzalez and Guadalupe Rubio De Cantua.

Adolfo was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church. He graduated from The University of Antonio Narro Veterinary Medicine of Torreon, Coahuila, MX. He held the position of Owner/Editor of La Opinion, the first Spanish newspaper in Northeast Texas. He was previously Director of the National Association of Hispanic Publications.

Adolfo was preceded in death by his parents, Adolfo Cantua Gonzalez and Guadalupe Rubio De Cantua.

He is survived by his loving family including his wife, Judith B. Cantua; son, Adolfo B. Cantua; and two daughters, Alejandra Cantua Phillips and Erika Cantua Posada.

Pallbearers will be Adolfo B. Cantua, Ubaldo Cantua, Andre Phillips, Victor Posada, Adrian Lara and Hector Islas.

Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Friday, June 16, 2017 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
