Colonel Billy R. Lingo (USAF, Ret.), born Jan. 7, 1930, passed away peacefully Monday, June 12, 2017. He grew up in Sweeny, Texas. He served in the US Army 15th Constabulary Squadron with the Allied troops in Germany patrolling the Czech border in 1948. There he met and married his beloved wife of 65 years, Rosie.

He brought his new bride home to Sweeny, and eventually joined the U.S. Air Force at Ellington Field in Houston, Texas. He served proudly at every level from squadron to Major Command. His final posting was the Reserve Policy Board at The Pentagon, where he retired, concluding a long and distinguished career with the Department of Defense.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Lingo Sr and Gladys Hutchins Lingo and his brother Joe Lingo Jr. He is survived by his loving wife, Rosie, sons Dennis and Alan Lingo, five grandchildren, Dan, Tabetha, Rachel, Jackie and Anthony, and three great granddaughters, Madison, Julia and Peyton.

A private memorial service will be held for family and friends. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in his name to the veterans charity of your choice.
