BELLEVUE -- Arthur S. Aston, 81, of 10907 Jones Road, died Tuesday, April 25, in Community Hospital, where he had been a patient two days. He had been ill since October.

He was born in Harrisburg, Ark., moved to Battle Creek in 1929 and to Bellevue in 1940. He was employed by Eaton Manufacturing in Marshall and the old RIch Manufacturing in Battle Creek. In 1939, he went to work for Federal Mogul Corp., retiring in 1968. He also farmed and owned and oeprated A&A Wood Products Co. with his son until 1975. Since retiring, he wintered in Florida. He was an avid fisherman, baseball fan and enjoyed making wooden lawn ornamgents.

He was a member of Battle Creek Balloon Club and had crewd his son's balloon, Candi II, until last year.

He made his home with Dagmar Smith.

Surviving are a son, Richard K. Aston of Bellevue; daughters, Deloris A. Richardson of Irons and Linda Russell of Delton; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Era "Bo" Aston of Truman, Ark.; and sisters, Gertrude Mink of Harrisburg, Ark., Junie Masson of Wynn, Ark., and Lois Petersn of Paris, Minn.

His wife, the former Cleo E. Burkett, died in 1977.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel. Memorial donations may go to Bellevue Rescue Squad.

William Sanders of the Bellevue United Methodist Church officiating. Interment Riverside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Bellevue Rescue Squad. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
