Jack Dempsey Jamar passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2017 surrounded by family. He was 86 years old. Jack was a native of Paris, born October 9, 1930, the son of Bill and Mollie Jamar.

Jack’s humble, gentle personality endeared him to those who knew him. He was kind, loving, and strong-willed.
Jack was a hard, reliable worker, who was able to repair almost anything. His strong hands, and powerful arms were always busy at his family’s home, or in his shop, tinkering with most anything mechanical.

For over 30 years, he worked as a power plant operator at Campbell Soup, retiring in 1994. Following that he joined his sons at Jamar Contractors until 2012.

Jack was a solid man of faith, attending both East Paris Baptist and Immanuel Baptist Church. He brought his children up to fear God, know right from wrong, and to work for what they have.

Preceding Jack into Heaven were two of his beloved sons, John Robert and Billy Wayne and two grandchildren, Abby Morrison and Casey Jamar. Jack also had five siblings, four of whom have preceded him into Heaven. They were Robert Jamar, Pauline (Sis) Carter, Billie Blankenship, Patsy Jamar, and Mary Hilyer.

He is survived by his sister Johnny Jo (Tink) Russo, who is in the Dallas area, his wife of 64 years, Haze; his daughter, Jackie Morrison and husband Randy; his son Bart Jamar and wife Jackie; and his daughter Jodie Temple and husband Blake, nine grandchildren, Angie, Lindsey, Christian, Mollie, Jack, Shelby, Will, Hannah, and Sarah, two great-grandchildren, Grayson McWilliams and Maverick Mead.

There will be a graveside service at Rockford Cemetery, Wednesday, June 14 at 6:30 p.m.
