Funeral services for William “Billy” Bennett, 80, of Columbia, will be held at 11, Thursday, June 15, 2017 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Shane Duke and Bro. Maxwell Bennett officiating. Interment will follow at Columbia Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Wed from 6-8.

Billy was born June 4, 1937 to the union of William H. and Mable Godfrey Bennett in Longview, TX and he passed from this life on June 9, at LA Extended Care Hospital in West Monroe.

He served his country in the Army for two years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Columbia. He was retired from the state as an off road fuel inspector. His passion was cattle farming.

He is preceded in death by his son: Bobby Bennett; his parents.

He is survived by his son: Clay Bennett (Cindy) of Columbia; sister: Dot Hoben of Monroe; grandchildren: Brandon Bennett (Heather), Jake Bennett, and Anna Clae Bennett; great-grandchildren: Jaydon and Kason Bennett.

Pallbearers will be David Varnell, Ray Braddock, Jamie Duff, Van Griffin, Richard Morgan, Ricky Rollins, Kenneth Tarver, and Pete Adams.
Honorary Pallbearers will be David Erskine, Buddy James, and Glen Grant.
