She was born March 22, 1907, to John and Karin (Dalfors) Skoog in Dalarna, Sweden, and moved to Grand Marais with her parents and family, at the age of seven. She later moved to Two Harbors where she graduated from high school in 1927 and lived for the rest of her life. She married Henning Hanson in 1928, and he preceded her in death in 1964. She was a member of the Knife River Valley Friendship Club and the Silvertones.
In addition to her parents and husband, Tory was preceded in death by brothers and sisters; Victor, Vernie and Bernard Skoog, Anna Olson, Hannah Rosdahl, Minnie Lundeen, Karin Carlson, Stina Anderson, and Elizabeth Backlund.
She is survived by her son Bruce (Elaine) Hanson of Two Harbors; daughters, Pauline Ohlund of Two Harbors and Barb (Dick) Eckel of Grand Marais; grandchildren Lori Okerlund of Apple Valley, Minn., Lynne Counter of Two Harbors and Cathy Rickert of Two Harbors, Jody Sanford of Castle Rock and Patty Nelson of Grand Marais; great-grandchildren Kristy Whalen, Kelly McElhinny, Bryan Okerlund, Corey Bonneville, Jessica Counter, Aaron Rickert, Lauren Rickert, Jessica Nelson and Kari Nelson; and two great-great-grandchildren, Reid and Alyson McElhinny.
VISITATION: 12 noon until the 1 p.m. service Wednesday, June 16, in Cavallin Funeral Home, Two Harbors.
