Dollie Jane Lowery Biddix died January 26, 2001 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Asheville. She was 100 years and 5 months old. She was known as "Aunt Dollie" to her friends. She was a life-long resident of McDowell County.

She was the last living child of the late Harve and Lothelia Hollifield Lowery. She joined Turkey Cove Baptist Church at age 16 and was a member there her entire life. She worked in a knitting mill in Marion and also enjoyed sewing and raising her garden. She loved helping other people.

She was preceded in death by one son, Troy Lowery and her late husband, Otis Biddix. She is survived by her loving daugher with whom she lived and who was her caregiver, Edith Biddix and several nieces and nephews; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild also survive. There will not be a celebration now, but late when she is united with her family and daughter. Funeral services were held at 2 pm
on Sunday in Westmoreland Chapel. The Revs. Milton Hollifield, Tommy Hardin and James Gass officiated. There was not a receiving friends at the funeral home, however, friends may visit the daughter at their home on Veteran's
Drive. Interment was at Turkey Cove Cemetery. Donations may be made to the daughter.
