Rosina was the daughter of Diedrich Boetjer (Boettcher) born about 1835 in Germany, who immigrated to America in the mid-1800's; and Rebakka "Rebecca" Moorman (Boetcher) (Damman). The surname was originally spelled Boettcher in Germany, and that is as it appears on his gravestone in Concordia, Lafayette County, Missouri.

Rosina, or "Sena" as she was sometimes known, married first to
John Peter Harms in 1882, who became a pioneer Citrus Rancher in the historic town of Orange, Orange County, California in the late 1800's through early 1900's. Together they owned and operated a 14 acre citrus ranch, raising primarily valencia oranges, and also lemons, walnuts, and grapes. John P. Harms added additional acreage over the years and was a member of the Valencia Growers Association. They were long-time residents of Orange until their deaths, raising numerous children. Both were very active in business, church, social and civic affairs in their community and were considered among the leading citizens of Orange.

Following the death of John P. Harms, Rosina married second husband Christian "Chris" Damman. The Harms and Damman families had known each other in Washington County, Kansas; where Rosina and John P. Harms had settled and farmed for several years prior to moving to California. Chris Damman had been a long-time friend of both John and Rosina. They married in Orange circa 1934.
