Olive Ruth Brynie McLemore Allen, 64, of Clifton, Texas, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Norse, Texas. Burial will be at Norse Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, at the Clifton Funeral Home.

She was born in Mineral Wells, Texas, to the late Neal and Cleo (Maddox) Brynie. Because of childbirth complications, Brynie was legally adopted by her Uncle Chris and his wife, Thyra (Staton) Brynie and moved to Des Moines, Iowa. At age four and a half, they moved to Clifton, Bosque County, where she lived for the remainder of her life. She was baptized in the Highland Park Presbyterian Church on May 10, 1942; confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church on April 14, 1957; and raised as a Christian.

On January 4, 1958, she married Ernest Harlan McLemore. They had four children, three sons and a daughter. During her very early years, she helped her folks at the Clifton Conoco Café. Later, she held two different part time jobs and then worked at an oil drilling materials manufacturing company for four years. Her career included 25 years at the Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home, first as a Nurse Aide and then a Medication Aide.

On April 10, 1971, she married Garlon E. Allen. He had four adult children whom she accepted and loved as her own. The couple bought the old Norse Parsonage and started attending Our Savior's Lutheran Church where she fulfilled her wish to become more involved in church activities by singing in the choir, attending WELCA, being a Night Circle Leader and Secretary of Education, and attending Adult Sunday School and Bible Study. Besides church activities, she belonged to and was very involved with the Bosque County Chapter of the Norwegian Society of Texas and the Bosque County Republican Club.

Ruthie loved country living, fresh air, fishing, camping, and working with flowers in her garden. Family members said that she enjoyed traveling with the family no matter where they went or what they did. She's dearly loved and will be missed by her church family and numerous close friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 32 years, Garlon Allen; and two brothers.

She is survived by sons, Mark McLemore, of Waco, Ernest McLemore, Jr. and wife, Jennifer, of Valley Mills, James McLemore and wife, Michelle, of Clifton, Robert Allen and wife, Debbie, of Euless, Adrian Allen and wife, Sheila, of Graham; daughters Debbie White, of Waco, Cynthia Richardson and husband, Aubrey, of Blum, and Lynda Thomas, of McKinney; 12 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
